This was discussed several forums ago, and probably even before that. I was just adding a little tidbit about the 45th. There were a couple of very highly decorated and famous members of that unit, and maybe you know their last names? Willie & Joe. ;>) Actually, it was Bill Mauldin who was a member of that unit. I'm re-re-rereading "Up Front" again. GOOD BOOK!
BTW, that 1/2 ton discussion a while back, Frank DID confirm that the marines & navy used em a lot in the PTO, as they were happy to get whatever they could with 4WD. Then there was the Lend Lease stuff, but I assume you were just thinkin about American useage.
