Can unleaded be used in stock 318 poly?

I have a couple 318s in town wagons and people tell me that they don't have valves and seats that will handle the unleaded fuel. Is there any truth to it? Doing a compression check cold I am getting 100 psi in each cyc. with all plugs removed. Is that average? thanks
