Paul,

It seems that there is a new drywall product coming out evryday. There are a few things that you might want to consider: One is a mold resistant board. With all of the hub-bub about mold these days the drywall manufacturers decided they just capilize on it and came out with this product. It can be taped, finished and painted to look just like regular wallboard. There is also a product called Dens Glass gold. It can be outside in the weather for six months with no damage if I remember correctly. But, this product is made to be covered by another siding or plaster. Both of these products are considerably more than 5/8" Type "X".
By the way, I'm a drywall contractor and will be starting my Power Wagon shop this spring. Any interior walls will be metal stud and regular ole 5/8" wallboard. I don't plan on hosing it out much and when I damage it, it's easy and cheap to patch.
