I don't know what kind of root cellar they'd make, they really sweat easily, the spuds might rot. When you walk across the floor the floor which is "oil canned" is always poping and it's like living in a drum. They're good for storing and securing things that are not perishable or prone to rust, and they're just about impossible to break into, that's it.
