Sorry, when I said cutout, I meant factory cutout. Weapons carriers have 5 gauge cutouts and command cars had 6 gauge cutouts in the dash (one extra for the voltmeter). Many WCs were salvaged during the war and pieced together from damaged weapons carriers, command cars ect.. I have seen some weapons carriers which were brought back to the states have the extra factory cutout which means they were salvaged vehicles. Voltmeters were used on radio equipped vehicles so that the operator knew when to run the engine to charge the battery. The voltmeter was a on/off test meter, and was not on all the time.
