The M-1-4 (1/2 ton)and the M-2-4 (1ton) both used 5 lug wheels. I have a M-2-4 here and it has the same rims as my Dodges (combat rims).
I "think" alot of confusion on this came about with the book on military vehicles by Fred Crismon. In the book he shows a M2-4 with 6 lug rims, the truck in the photo is not the one that went into production. When they went into production the axle was a 5 lug.
