Yes it is a sad day, I had the same thing happen to me with the Danner boot co. I have always bought Danner boots, and at my current job steel toed boots were required. So I go down to the co. shoe store and scanned the shelf for a Danner catalog. When I found the catalog I thumbed through it and discovered that you could only get the steel toes in certain ones (the cheaper ones, which were still over $220) So I got those, and they have to be the worst pair of boots I've ever owned. They're already breaking down in the ankles, the stitching is coming apart, and the leather around the steel insert is almost worn away. Personally, I think if I'm gonna spend that kind of money they should last longer than EIGHT MONTHS. Oh also shortly after I recieved them I discovered the MADE IN CHINA label on the tongue.

The other day, the night shift electrician, and I were talking about it. He was wanting to buy a digital camera. And well Staples was running a sale on this Kodak one. And just to needle him a little I said "seems kinda odd that a union representative would support a company that imports non-american made goods" of course knowing full well that there isn't an American made camera on the market (at least I'm not aware of one!)He thought about it for a long time, but he ended up buying one anyway.

I even think we get hosed by them when it comes to thier new technology. I mean if you think about it when was the last time your cassette tape wouldn't play (I have some that had rattled on the floor of the pickup when I was fourwheelin' in Highschool and they still play) yet out of the five new CDs I have two of them already skip (less than 4 years old) Yet you can't hardly buy cassettes any more.

Same thing with the automotive industry, when was the last time your MADE IN SOME FOREIGN COUNTRY electronically controlled, automatic trannied vehicle forced you to call a tow truck because of some little tiny glitch.

At least they put the tag on it (MADE IN .......) so that we don't falsely accuse some other foreign country for THIER inferior product.

Sorry about the lengthy rant, state of the nation just irritates me to no end!!!!!
