There is actually a heavy duty choker sling about 24" long that goes around the axle first, then the strap hooks to that. I don't cross them to keep the straps from twisting and sliding down the axle tube, I do however add about 15 lbs of air to each tire after the rig is strapped down, that makes it really snug! I've towed loads like that many thousands of miles with no mishaps...at least with the cargo...ha!ha!
Anyway, how could I escape the watchful eye of this guy???
