Woodruff keys are standard sizes, so if it looks close, you probably have the right one. Keys are made to be tight fits, though, and any little burr or rust can keep them from going in all the way. I like to tilt them just a hair before putting the assembly together so that it won't hang up on the outside part. Also make sure the pieces are an easy sliding fit without the key in. Often the end of a shaft gets flared just a little because somebody hammered on it once, or some other ding or burr makes them hard to slip together. Then put some oil on all the parts before assembling.
