Guys;
I have a few questions regarding the use of cable type tire chains. With winter snows inevitable in our area now, and since I now drive a small economy car to and from work, I figured a set of cable chains tossed in the trunk might help out in the event I'm caught on the drive in or from work in heavy snows. I've never used cable chains before so am a little apprehensive about buying them.

Basically I need to know if cable chains are a viable item to use or are they just a waste of money? Would I need to install the cable tighteners if I use them? JC Whitney has a set for $32.99 that will fit my car and supposedly they do fit FWD cars. Again, are they worth buying or just a waste? Thanks.
