Spring disassembly

Can anyone tell me how to disassemble a spring and get past the riveted clamp? Do you tap the leaves out or bend the clamp to free up the leaves.
I don't have to budget to replace the springs right now I figured I would sandblast and paint the leaves then reassemble them. Thanks for any tips.
