Hi Doug,
I ran a 6 volt heater on 12 volts for several VT winters before it quit, I then reoplaced the motor with an off the shelf motor. The details and numbers are in the PIF. Its a really easy swap. I would just test it like Paul explained and if it spins, run it till it dont!
