If your truck is 12 volt, the heater motor must also be 12 volts. Assuming this is the case, hook a wire to the heater motor case and hook it to a 12 volt battery GROUND. Take a wire from the hot lead on the motor and hold it on the POSITIVE battery terminal. The motor should run. Thats the test.

If you want only one speed (fast) just use a on/off switch in your PW. If you want multi speeds, you will need a heater switch with resistors or one of the rotary off/on switches with a variable resistor built in. This way you can control the speed.
