You were lucky there. With all the torque diesels put out that would be waay easy to do in that kind of terrain. The newest rigs the company bought have the auto-shift although I have only moved them around the yard. Wouldn't let me drive them because I haven't been trained yet?????? They're automatic shift for crying out loud. What's to know???? Still haven't figured that one out. I have been told they don't work worth a dang on tough hills like that. I didn't exactly understand what the guys were telling me happened but they said you darn well better switch to manual and do the thinking for the gearbox. It apparently gets behind the curve in those situations.

BTW, aren't you in Eastern WA somewhere? We have some rigs that run over to Yakima I think. Maybe you've seen them. Mostly Macks. Walsh Trucking. Haul wood residuals, lumber and a few other things. I've hauled garbage, chipped tires, wood chips, sawdust, hog fuel, lumber and maybe some other things I have forgotten. Wood residuals is the mainstay and many, many years ago there was a spot on the tickets marked BGF. When I finally asked what that was I was told blood, guts and feathers.=) Never did haul any and it has not been on the tickets for about 15 years now. Didn't figure out what it was either.
