I had to laugh reading your post. I remember exactly the same thing about being in the right or wrong gear. This was a # of years back and we were using 7 axle rigs so about 95-96,000 lbs. I hauled chipped tires for a road project near the mouth of the Columbia on the WA side. It was kind of a back road and slow going. Pulling through a sharp corner on that first trip, I get to the point where I am just about back into the throttle the road suddenly turns to about a 10% grade. Totally unexpected and fortunately it was not very far left to go since I was down in 1st gear real quick.=)
