I got a neighbor selling standing dead buckskin tamarack cut but not split for $125 per honest cord. The snow may have stopped him from cutting now, but that was his price in late fall when wood prices are at their highest.

One of the funniest things about this windstorm in Seattle is the various local radio talk shows fielding calls from people wondering where to get firewood. Somebody finds a couple pallets of presto logs at Costco, or some shrink-wrapped camping wood at Safeway and they call the radio station and the host thanks them and passes on the info to people whose power is out. Why is their power out? Because TREES ARE DOWN EVERYWHERE! Do these people who are driving all over town looking for a grocery store with a few fire logs left not realize that FIREWOOD IS ACTUALLY CUT-UP PIECES OF TREES? Like maybe even the tree that's laying in their yard or their neighbor's yard right now? Maybe I should call the radio station and offer a helpful hint that they don't actually have to go buy specially-processed "fire logs", but rather they could just cut up some of those broken pieces of trees laying in their yard and burn them. No, then they'd probably set their house on fire and sue me.
