Hi Chris,
I started out using an AGR "Super Pump" which is a Saginaw power steering pump with the ham can resevior. Supposedly AGR beefs them up somehow. The first one was DOA and leaked through the shaft seal. I took it off the truck and took it apart and it was full of metal shavings. I called AGR who said an air bubble caused it and since I had opened it I had voided the warrantee. Still trying to be ready for the Vermont Rally, I had them sell me another one and 2nd day it to me, They also included the seal and bushing to repair the first one so I could have a spare. The second pump did pump, but also leaked immediatly from the shaft seal. This one lasted less than an hour before quitting. Took this one off and ended up making a third from the pieces of the previous 2. This one did not leak and it pumped fine. Third times a charm right? Wrong. This one didnt last much longer than the second one. I had several knowledgabe folke here check out the system and others at the West Virginia Rally and all agreed that it was plumbed correctly, belts were not to tight etc. So, I decided to try a true hydraulic pump that might be built a little beefier than the saginaw pumps are. So now I have plenty of beef, just need to tame it.
Tim
