I am a automotive computer programmer and i can see no use for a home/vehicle maintenance program as the little "next service due" sticker on the inside of the windshield, the owners manual, and a little grey matter use is a much better way to go.
example: you change oil every 3,000 miles,
you have 2,500 since last change and you
decide to go on a 1,500 mile trip what now?
or closer to home
air filter interval is 3,000 miles on your
pw - you use it off the road in dust which requires daily cleaning
for small urban fleets using the same vehicles and the same routes these programs
work fine. when the vehicle is gassed the mileage is entered and if the vehicle is due
for service an alert is sent to the vehicle
dispatcher or whomever.
I could go into this in length but myself i just enter all service done in the owners manual or vehicle log book (motor coach)
and drop the invoices in the vehicle jacket
one last note
the services required vary greatly for each
vehicle model - the owners manual supplied
addesses these requirements in detail.
as a Daimler Chrysler dealer the service programs check (retriewe) an updated evip report for each vehicle as a repair order is
generated - with the raw data returned all options are checked as some options require
that sync lubricants be used which the owner
might not be aware of ie: jeep with tow package
very involved
most large fleets have customer software written to meet their specific needs
