GI dists have bad suppressors under the coil.

Never had the problem in the M37 I had for a year or so, but apparently there is a flat disc under the coil, inside the waterproof distributors. It can be replaced with a wooden disc with a screw through the middle to make contact to the bottom of the coil???

Otherwise, DS has a good trouble shoot plan. But I'd look at the primary lead that goes to the points inside the dist. Especially of it is a vaccuum advance dist- it aged, got brittle, then broke when the advance shifted the breaker plate around.
