ray's kit is a worthwhile update and an overall improvement in stopping your truck. ray uses easily obtained parts to bring your truck into the rear world of braking. his workmanship is top notch. i used to worry about stopping in a 60 year old truck with single channel brakes. with a dual master cylinder and a full set of discs, new lines and hoses, you can rest assured that you will stop. no one talks about it here too much, but i think the orig brakes used asbestos. i cant think of a good reason to keep the drums for anything else except a full stock restoration. a full (READ FULL) brake job involving all new parts (NEW DRUMS) will cost more than a helitool kit and finding the parts becomes harder each day. yes you can buy relined shoes and new cylinders, but the drums are expensive. finding someone who knows how to cut the drums later (on the hub) and shape the linings and adjust the brakes (top and bottom) is a challenge as each day the good guys dwindle in number. brakes are the most important system on the truck and i'd spend my money there first.
