No, that's just the next to be available, power plant of choice. It was a two year only motor, it cannot meet the ULSD regs and is being dropped, they only made about 8,000 of them for the US, about 60,000 for Europe, however for the long run the new BlueTec 3.0 will be seen, starting in 2008 for light weight applications. Yes the computer could present issues. I have no idea if the motor NEEDS the computer to operate properly. If the computer is tied into a "system" which includes the trans and other functions, then it could be a problem. A lot of the newer Jeep motors are computerized to "re-tune" themselves when in low range or 1st gear 4WD, for greater torque and throttle response. It's sort of like a temporary performance chip. Shift back into 2WD, high range and the economy tune returns.
