I did a little more research about bolt grades and came up with some conflicting information. One website said Grade 8 was the strongest of the two (in tensile AND shear) and one said that Grade 5 was better in shear. I have always heard that 5 was better for shear and 8 was for tensile, but I'm a bit confused now. Even my trusty Pocket Ref doesn't make a distinction. Maybe it's an urban legend?
