Smoke at startup is indication of hardened valve steam oil seals. This condition allows oil to drain into the combustion area, so when you start your engine, it smokes a bit, then will clear out. You can replace them without pulling the heads or you can try Bar's Leaks Engine Oil Stop Leak and conditioner. It's designed to recondition the seals and gaskets to stop or slow leaks. I've had good success stopping my engine leaks using it.
