as you have seen, most car haulers, have DODGEs, and have 53 foot trailers,, For commercial use, and over 26,001, you must have a CDL, (which you have) , and carry the standard CDL requirements, i got pulled over in NE, and the officer said i had 23 violations. since my trailer was long, not fire extinguisher, no medical card, on and on,, he asked me three separate times , "what are you going to do with that truck" i replied three times " restore it and keep it", he was fishing for an answer of ( resale, hauling for a buddy, fixin up to resale etc, of using it for commercial use) he let me go.... as i was under 26,001, and had all my gear in place,, No some states( not ohio) require you to TAG your truck with the rating of what you can tow, and charge you ads you rating goes up,, As far as what your truck is rated, and what it can tow, most(like my self) just tow,, but my trailer has 3 8000lb axles and all three are braking.. NEVER STOP!! your "not for hire", private, if you are, you must get all the tags, dot ##, medical card, etc,, NOT worth it for a few tows a year,,, There is a LOOP hole, campers, custom buses, are looped in,, as we all have seen those NICE car semi haulers, or horse haulers, over 26,001,, they all have LOW PROVILE TIRES, etc,, i'm looking to shorten my MACK, truck, and put a goose ball on it,, and run lower tires,, Just so i can have more power,, jc
