The 1/2t's have lighter springs, and didn't they have 4.88 gears already? But if you are running 55 psi...
And there is a good likelyhood that some previous owner already went to the later rims. How wide is the split rim?
Seat belts help too, to keep you from bouncing so bad on the seat that you chafe your back.
A good tune up might help the power, cheaply.
