Yesterday I drove the Museum's WC-52 along with Chris Hurtle driving the Museum's M-37 in our local Veterans Day Parade in Copperas Cove, Texas. My friends joined us with three Jeeps, a 1941 Willys MB "slat" grill, a 1943 Ford GPW, and a 1950 M-38. The Jeep crews are all reenactors and wore full uniforms.

The Museum and American Legion Post 582 jointly sponsored our participation. We followed a banner that said, "American Legion Post 582 and Kempner Power Wagon Museum - Caretakers of the Past for Our Future"

The American Legion Post has worked hard with us to get the "Veterans" back into Veterans Day. We are located next to the worlds largest Army base, Fort Hood, Texas, and the cities on each side of the post (Copperas Cove and Killeen) have historically tried to figure out where our former military vehicles belong in a parade that is dominated by the Chamber of Commerce and their business oriented floats. The Veterans Day Parade has been nothing more than a "Pre-Christmas" Parade. Year after year when I registered for the Veterans Day Parade, I was asked if I should be placed with the Model A club or the hot rods.

Today, we looked good and did a small part to put "Veterans" back into Veterans Day.

Oh, Yes. When you hang out with Jeeps, everyone can see that a Dodge 3/4 ton IS NOT A JEEP.
