"A trailer with a GVWR of more than 10,000 pounds if the gross combination weight rating is 26,001 pounds or more"
So if your trailer has a GVWR of more than 10 K pounds, and your total combination weight Trailer and tow vehicle exceeds 26,001, then you need a cdl.
My 12K rated trailer and Dodge Ram do not come close to 26,001 pounds combination. Fully loaded with my Carryall, a Motorcycle, and a lot of maple Syrup (heavy) My gross weight was 19,500# on certified scales.
