I'm far from "well off" but I'll bet even with the gas price the way it is, I spend less on it than my 98'1/2 ton, when I had it. ($400/payment, $100/insurance,) Fuel is probably roughly the same as before but I live alot closer to my job now. Tires were pretty close to the same i.e. in the $200 per tire range, and probably last about as long. I don't have the battery expense, my 98' had an electric winch on it that got used regularly, and I usually had to replace the battery about every two years. Once I took care of the major stuff, repair wise, it's not nearly as expensive.
