You'll have to pull the head. You'll probably want to pull the manifolds for easier access to the valve train. Pull them out individually and clean all the crud off. I actually had to use a small can of MAPP gas to melt the varnish down enough to get the valves out to clean them. Get your gasket set on order. And I hope you have the valve spring tool. If not, I have one you can borrow.
