I think the high prices of 50s vehicles basically reflect that fact that those are the years people who have money today remember from their childhood. In 20 years, the next generation will discover those 70s beater wood-hauler pickups that are all over the place for $500 today and will restore them because "their dad had one like it" when they were little. I notice 60s muscle cars are skyrocketing in value as well. Lots of guys who wanted them when they were 20 but couldn't afford them can now afford them.

I don't pay a lot of attention to "antique" (pre-WWII) cars and trucks, but I've noticed that when they're not in investment-grade collectible condition, they're really not very expensive and aren't going up in value. I doubt a driveable Model A or a 30's Chevy that's an older backyard restoration and won't win any awards is worth any more today than it was 10 years ago. I suspect that aside from the high-dollar trailer queens, the values of 50s PWs will level off once those of us who remember them from our childhoods are dead and gone.
