I've always held that the Earth was an extremely volitile place, extreme heat and extreme cold all over. There were ice ages and there were huge heat spells. But eventually the huge sways in temperature and tectonic activity (volcanoes, earthquakes, etc.) would have to slow down and eventually stop. So this "warming" is nothing more than us coming out of an ice age that we had been in for 20,000 years. But being that the Earth is still fairly young, we will probably get darn hot before we cool off again. It's predictable to a certain degree, but like a giant pendelum we must soon find a happy medium. I just hope its not too cold.
