It is a Dodge truck of varying tonnage (1/2 to 3 tons) that has been converted to four wheel drive by the Coleman Company, Littleton, Colo. Coleman went out of business 10-15 years ago. Their 4X4 conversions were made primarily from about 1947 to 1956, before the Dodge factory offered conventional sheet metal 4X4 trucks. The conversions used a Coleman made front axle and usually a Dodge ot Timken transfer case. See back issues of PWA with articles on our Rocky Mt. Rendezvous for photos of Lyle Van Wert's 1956 Dodge 1/2 ton 4X4 Coleman conversion.
