i bought a converted gm hei dist a while back because i thought points and rotors might cause trouble. i planned on installing it at the first sign of trouble. i never installed it as i have had no problems. the gm hei conversion is probably a better fix then the pertronix because it is off the shelf technology and the coil is in the cap making it a true one wire install. add a gm 1 wire alternator and you have simplified your electrics in the extreme. if you are a 4 wheel nut, modify a boat hei--- even better. btw id sell the hei unit for 275.
