I just got a call from Steve Wataha from Rock Springs, Wyoming this afternoon. Steve had ordered 150 board feet of jatoba (South American cherry) for his next Power Wagon restoration and for my 1940 VD-21 restoration. He used this same wood on the 1948 B1-PW that he restored last year, and the results were fantastic. This wood is medium to dark red, is very hard and dense and withstands weather very well. I don't remember the name of the dealer, but I will find out if anyone is interested.
