I ended up using a slide hammer/bearing puller on a piece of 3/4 galvanized pipe. I removed the bearing puller attachment on the end, bought a 3/4" galvanized elbow, drilled a hole in it for a bolt that would fit in the grease fitting hole, screwed the elbow on the pipe and it worked like a charm. Two or three mild hits is all it took to jerk the pins right out.
