shackle bolts

My 56 FF front shackle bolts were bad and 10 years ago when I assembled the running gear I made bolts from grade 8 bolts I grooved them for grease and they looked good, but now bieng 10 years wiser or more cautious take your pick I would like to know is it going to be safe when I get it on the road. if any one can answer the question, I know you guys can thanks in advance
