The weakness is the 6 teeth on the pinion, the bearing set up is indeed stout, however the tiny pinion head has very little contact with the ring gear at any one time, if you look at newer designs, you find more teeth in contact at all times. Most of the diffs I have come across in the junk yards, etc. have chipped or broken pinion teeth.
