What you stated is partly correct with State Farm. That holds only if you insure you car or truck as a daily driver and not under their Classic car policy. Their Classic car policy is very competative.

As I stated below regardless of the insurance you have to have an appraisal to back up the stated value. My Willys was a daily driver with a stated value. It was totaled when my son hit black ice. State Farm offered $2,000 as settlement on a $8,000 stated value. When I provided the appraisal document from a professional appraiser State Farm paid up full stated value. The appraisal was several years old but was done by an appraiser that they use. End of story State Farm paid full value. Was it worth the couple hundred for the appraisal? YES.

I am having an appraisal done on my Carryall when I bring it home from Reno. I have done a lot of work on it recently.
