State Farm did not care about the use of my vehicles and their condition. The only time they will not cover them is during the restoration process when they are taken apart. They want pictures if you request a stated value policy. The respone from the underwriter on my ff PW was no problem and that thing would drive through a brick wall and is it for sale. The Carryall was just as easy even though it is repowered and is slightly customized.

I stated in an earlier forum, it is best to have a professional do an appraisal of your truck and set it's value. It will save lots of money and frustration if you get into an accident or if it is stolen. Doing this got me $6,000 more on my Willys when it was totaled. Get it in writing by a professional appraiser. With the value of our trucks going up it would not hurt to have it done every couple of years. Protect yourself. DO NOT LET THE INSURANCE COMPANY SET OR DETERMINE THE VALUE DURING A CLAIM.

The accident I had was in a gas station. I filled up and it was blocked in front of me. I checked the mirrors and saw it was clear behind me. I started to back up and BANG. I got out and there was a little Acura behind and under the bumperettes. She had pulled close in behind me and I could not see her and she was not there when I finished filling up. I got back into the truck and check the mirrors and I still cound not see her at all. Then she opend the driver's door and I finally could see her bright red car. The bumperetts caught the front edge of her hood and pealed it back destroying the whole thing. I could look in from the side and see the engine. It was my fault. Apparently if you are backing up it is your fault just like a rear ender. Working with my insurance company I asked how much it would go up because of this. She looked it up and said it would not. In fact she said they had no way to increase the cost of that type of insurance. Mine was the first accident under that type of policy that they have ever seen. They said they make money on those policies as people never have accidents with their "Classic" cars. That is why the cost is so low.

My trucks are licensed as Classic Vehicles in Washington state. It does limit my use somewhat. I can not use them for hire or haul commerical loads. They are not suppose to be daily drivers. They are to be driven to car events, test drives, drives to the shop and etc. Never a problem with the state except for a green State Trooper who did not understand the laws concerning classic cars license. I do drive them to work on occasion and take them shopping and haul stuff from the lumber yard or gravel pit.
