I've talked to Costco management about offering diesel. The reason they don't sell it now is because their concept is to get the folks in and out quickly. The low percentage of diesel powered vehicles means that the lines would bog down around the diesel vehicles waiting for the diesel pumps. The solution is to offer diesel at every pump, and that means a huge expense to revamp every Costco fueling station. That cost would eliminate the cost savings you see at Costco fuel. They did say that they re-evaluate the market on a regular basis, so we may someday see diesel at Costco, when the percentage of diesel fueled vehicles climbs a bit more.
Along those same lines, look for huge increases in the availability of diesel powered vehicles as soon as the ULSD fuel mess is resolved in 2008.
FYI, every Costco has a suggestion box, I have about 137 requests for diesel in my local box! ha!ha!
