Is the vehicle going to be 4-wheel drive? The way I understand it, it sounds like there is a motor with a 20 tooth sprocket, a chain runs to the front of the vehicle, and the jackshaft connects to the engine sprocket and runs to the rear. If that is the case, then the sprocket on the end of the jackshaft should be the same as the one on the engine. That way the ratio would remain the same, as long as you used the same final sprockets front and rear. I built a go-kart like that once, but used a rear sprocket that was one tooth too small. That caused me to essentialy drag around my back tires all the time. Not too big of a problem on dirt, but the pavement didn't do the tires any favors.
