pw owner,
a lot of the terms of these trucks overlap and cause confusion so I'll try to help clarify. The VC series of 1/2 ton military trucks were made from 1939 - 1940. They were easily identified as they used the normal 2wd FRONT sheetmetal, meaning NO open front fenders. They also used 2wd truck rear fenders. The WC series has the slanted hood as that is what you are referring to.(see Moparnorms pic above) Several runs were made as the Army ordered them in batches, making small changes on them in each series. For instance, the WC 40 or 41 you refer to has ALL(5) round guagews as opposed to the normal 2 rectangle and one round. they came with a larger 6 cylinder as well. The WC 40(closed cab with bed) and 41(closed cab with no bed and duals) are quite rare as I only know of about 8 of them.

Prices are generally less for the WC's than the PW's. I personally like the hood look better but still has the same style lame hinge design. Email with a pic or if you have any other questions. Got a frame number(above the drivers side front wheel on the frame) Should be on the Data tag on the dash as well. I have a WC 40 myself. Kevin
