The speed framers in Calif. used to mix wax with gasoline and dump it all over their 16d nails to make them drive in easier. (remember this Norm?) Of course they had a tendency to come out rather easily if the heads were in the open. Then pneumatic nailers came along and saved us all from this plight. :)
