I think GM's problem was/is they make way to many vehicles for the same market niche. I had a 79 Suburban that I put over 500K on, and I plowed snow with it every winter I had it (mostly commecial lots). When I finally got rid of it, it STILL had it's original engine/drive train with NO rebuilds.

We originally got our Durango for the Mrs, as a Sub was to big for her (she's a little thing). I was very happy with our 1st D, but I murdered it. snif Our 01 sucks in comparison. It was made after Daimler took over and is much cheaper built.

F*rd's seem okay when new, but after 40K they fall apart. I seriously doubt if we will ever get a brandy new vehicle again here in Uggville. I don't like how they are so dependant on electronics. It seems ya need a degree in computers to just change the plus.

About unions. They were most definately needed when started. The theory that big businesses will correct themselves for the better when it comes to dealing with labor issues is TOTAL BS! All they want is PROFIT, damn the costs, damn the comsumer, damn the enviorment. Even damn their families. WE WANT PROFIT! What was it said in that movie with Mikey Douglas, "Greed is good." That'd be funny if it wasn't true. Talk to, or better yet, listen to some MBA's when they talk.

Unfortunately, most union reps are nothing more than a tool of the company. They don't want to give up their high pay, nice cars, nice homes. I've been in several unions, and I've seen it across the board.
