Well, I decided to look deeper into this issue I had of not getting too much speed outta the green VIPER (3/4 ton command car)

Seems a certain tire shop (me!!) didnt air up them there 9:00-16 tires much when he mounted them (only 25 or so lbs)

Added more air (around 38-40) and took her for a ride.

Noticable difference. I was able to achieve a higher road speed according to the speedometer, which may or may not be 100% accurate.

I got the beast up to about 75 KMP which converts to approx 46.6 MPH.

WOOPIE.. Progress.

Now, once again, that motor was really screaming (in my opinion) but it didnt feel like she was gonna grenade.

Maybe its a combination of comfort level with the engine noise and a few "tweaks" I still need to make.

i know.. I need to air the tires up more.

What is that lb spec for 9:00-16 tires? Around 45 lbs was it?

Anyway, I am also thinking of draing all fluids and putting in some SLICK-50.

last truck I had the heat in the rear diff was so hot. After hearing abvlout all the guys who recommended using the SLICK 50, I tried it, and I really noiticed a difference.

I bet that will help too.

In any case, I feel MUCH more comfortable that the truck is doing approx what it was designed to do speed wise. At least closer.

Now I feel better in traffic too. Now I can at least keep up to the minimum speeds on most highways@!!

Thanks, Dave
