I know UP had some automobile cars that had huge double doors in each side to load cars in, Just one of the doors was a bit narrower than a standard door opening, When I was loading a lot of rail cars out in the 1960's the old auto cars had been converted to DF (Damage Free with tracks in the wall and locking cross bars) and the welded one set of doors shut. The remaining door was really narrow, especially for using a forklift. Some of the bigger trucks they just drove. I know my Dad in about 1950 drove a new Ford cabover water/sprinkler truck from Ohio to Idaho and had quite an adventure
