I am sure that some will not like this idea, BUT, on some older cable that looks intact and is a little rusty. I unspool it all and then drag it around a large graveled yard. ( a lot of backing up) This usually gets all the rust off and gets a few of the kinks out. Afterward, respool and soak with waste oil. Tom
