I want you to know I admire someone who is responsible for his own risk assesment. I have allways pushed the evelope and it has served me well. Saveral years ago I found a good deal on an airplane so I brought it home rebuilt the engine fuel , brake systems put a n ew windshild in it then took it to the airport and learned to fly. The local rule and regulation guys really went off over that. I found that you could follow the money on there opinion from selling insurance to inspection services. After accumulating nearly 3000 hrs flying the Idaho back country I still have a respect for risk assesment. go for it.
