That is how dual 9.00x16's work on a WDX-WM300 Power-Wagon. The inner wheels are stock so they will not interfere with the brake drums. The outer wheels are the ones with the special offset. And therein lies part of the problem of trying to use military 1/2-ton 5.5 wheels (wich will provide more tire sidewall clearance than the civilian 5.5 version), inner and outers would be the same, but the inners contact the brake drums.
I have heard talk about different trailer wheels, but have never see a set that I know of.
