251 winch vs. 230 winch question

the heavy angle iron that runs across the front bumper mounting the winch is made of 2"x2"x3/8" angle on the 230. the 251 uses a 2"x2 1/2" x3/8" angle.The 2 1/2" dimension is on the vertical leg. can I use the 230 angle inplace of the 251 angle?.....just hoping I don't have to run out and purchase some steel.
